I rolled my hips on his cock trying to catch my rhythm. He lifted his body up and pulled my nightgown from my body.

His eyes zeroed in on my stomach. I wanted to feel self-conscious, but I wasn’t. It was his baby. I wasn’t going to be embarrassed about something that he had done to me.

  He was my husband. Unbelievable.

I leaned down and traced his neck with my tongue. He groaned. I nipped his neck knowing that it would leave a mark.

  “Lisa,” he sighed.

I look down and saw raw desire etched across his face for me. I continued to grind myself against him causing my whole body to clench. I rode him faster and faster.

“Lisa.” He tweaked my breast as I leaned my breast closer to his mouth begging him to pay attention to them. He popped a nipple in his mouth biting down, causing my sex to squeeze him tighter.

I moved on top of him, grinding down harder and harder, rubbing my clit against him trying to gain release. His thrusts were wild and hitting my favorite spot. The best spot in the world.

I felt myself about to cum. I sat up straight pressing my hands on his chest for traction and used my legs to grip him tighter.

“Shit,” he groaned. “Come with me, Lisa.” He begged.

I rubbed my swollen clit against him feeling my climax. My nerve endings tingled. It would not take much to push me over the edge. The pressure was excruciating. He reached down between us and tweaked my nub.

I screamed his name as he pumped into me one last time. I felt his hot seed spurt inside my body as I continued to roll my hips milking the rest of his seed from his body.

Finally, I sighed and dropped on the side of him. He glanced over at me.

“Good morning,” I rasped out of breath from my exertions.

He ran his finger down my arm causing tingling sensations through my body.

One side of his mouth kicked up into a smirk. “Good morning, Mrs. Banks.”

Mrs. Banks. That would take some time to get used to, but it certainly sounded good rolling off his tongue. I gave him a goofy smile. “Time to get up, we have an appointment in an hour.”

Chris eyes still held desire. I had put it down. Yep, I had skills like that. Black girl magic had mesmerized him again. Made him put a ring on it.

  Chris

I tried not to fidget. I constantly felt eyes looking at us. I wasn’t sure if it was me because I played hockey or us because we were an interracial couple. I knew times had changed, yet they really hadn’t. People could be undercover racist. I knew that. I just hoped it wasn’t a large percentage of the population. In a sport like hockey, people sometimes made off the cuff remarks that they intended to be funny, but they came off as stereotypical or plain racist.

I watched a woman walk her son toward me, “Are you Chris Banks?” the little boy asked excitedly.

“I am.” I smiled at him. He was a cute little boy. I couldn’t even imagine what my child would look like. It had only been a few weeks that I had discovered I was going to be a dad, but I constantly thought about the baby and Lisa. Even during practice, they were never far from my mind.

“May I have your autograph?” he asked looking at me expectantly.

“Sure.” He handed me his ballcap, and I took the sharpie he offered and signed my name.

“Thanks!” he said looking at his mother excitedly.

I looked up and caught Lisa watching me. “Does that happen often?” she canted her head to the side.

“It happens periodically. Usually, people try to be a little respectful about coming up to me when I am somewhere personal, but he’s just a kid.” I shrugged. “He doesn’t know any better.”

She gave me a soft smile. “True.”

“Mr. and Mrs. Bank?” the nurse asked staring at me and another woman that was sitting two seats down from me. I felt Lisa tense up.

Lisa waved her ring hand in the woman’s face. I had purchased Lisa a ring right after we had gotten the paternity results. It was a good investment. She had been shocked when I presented it to her. What did she think? We would get married with no ring? We were all in. This was the real deal.

“I’m his wife. I’m Mrs. Banks.”

The woman blushed. I felt embarrassed for her.

“I’m sorry, Mrs. Banks.” She looked at Lisa and then me.

“No, it’s fine. I understand.” Lisa said eyeing the woman up and down implying a wealth of things with her I understand. There was the Lisa that I knew. She had lulled me into thinking that she had mellowed.

I reached for Lisa’s hand helping her up from her seat. “You ready?”

“Yes, husband. I’m ready.” I knew what she was doing by calling me husband. She was being obnoxious to prove a point to the nurse.

I walked beside her knowing that she was pissed. I didn’t blame the lady. It was an honest mistake.

We walked into the room, and I had a seat in the chair next to the desk out of the way.

“Mrs. Banks, if you’ll lift your shirt all the way up, you should be fine. Someone will be with you both soon.”

Lisa stood looking at the woman without responding. So, I said, “Thank you.”

I watched Lisa sit on the table and pull her shirt up.

“You know it was an honest mistake,” I told her trying to calm the situation.

She leaned up on the table. She side-eyed me. “You’re right, Chris. It was a mistake. I was sitting right next to you. The other woman was two seats down. Hell, I was even having a conversation with you when she walked up, but I guess I can see how she would be so confused,” she ended sarcastically.

“I’m sure she didn’t do it deliberately.”

“Right, Chris. She made a mistake because I was sitting two seats away from you and not talking to you,” she replied laying down flat on the table.

I didn’t respond. This was the Lisa that I was used to. The one that couldn’t ever let anything go. If I said anything else, it would only exacerbate the situation. I remained quiet.

When the knock came at the door, I was relieved. I was ready to move on from this conversation.

“How are you two today?” the technician asked walking into the room.

“Fine.” Lisa replied trying to get comfortable on the table and ignoring my presence.

“Good.” This morning had been better. Shit. She went from hot to cold in the blink of an eye.

“Alright, so let’s see what we have here. First, I’m going to do some measurement to make sure that everything is fine. Then, if you want to know, I’ll tell you the gender,” the technician replied squeezing some gel on Lisa’s stomach.

Lisa looked at me and shrugged her shoulders. I assumed she meant it was my decision.

“Yes, we want to know.” I did want to know. I wanted to know everything. What would our child look like? I couldn’t imagine. Peyton was adorable. I would be happy with either gender. I just wanted the child healthy.

“Good, I’ll let you know when we get there,” she replied running a wand around Lisa’s stomach.

I sat in the chair next to Lisa as she gazed at the screen.

“Mrs. Banks, is this your first ultrasound,” the technician inquired moving the wand to another location.

Lisa tensed. “No, I had one when I first found out I was pregnant. Is something wrong?”

I became nervous when Lisa tensed. She was a doctor. If she was uncomfortable with the question, I should probably be uncomfortable too.

My eyes raised to the screen trying to decipher various things on the screen. I couldn’t tell much of anything.

“Were you two aware that you were having twins?”

“Ah, wait. What?” Lisa stammered looking over at the screen.

“Yep, I see both of them right here. One of them is hiding behind the other. Your doctor never detected two separate heartbeats?” she asked glancing at us.

My heart pounded triple time. Twins. We were having twins. I reached down for Lisa’s hand. She squeezed mine tightly. Okay,
I had mentally prepared for one. Two made me want to break out in a sweat.

“No, are you sure?” Lisa asked.

“Yes, take a look.” The technician pointed to two separate images on the screen.

Lisa leaned over and looked at the screen. I leaned in too, trying to see whatever the technician was looking at on the screen.

“See, here is a heartbeat.” She pointed to a small peanut on the screen that looked like its heart was pumping fast. “Here is the second one.” She pointed to a second peanut on the screen. “I can also tell you the gender of both of them if you want me too.”

I glanced down at Lisa who seemed to be shell-shocked.

“Yes, you can tell us.” Lisa dug her nails into my hand. She hadn’t been prepared to hear about two babies. Hell, neither had I.

“Well, this one in the front is a little girl.” I looked at the screen trying to see what the technician was seeing.

A daughter. We were going to have a little girl.

“And the second one?” I asked trying to gain my equilibrium. I was going to have a little princess: pink glitter, bows, and dolls.

“This little guy is a boy.” She smiled at us.

  A son.

A son to teach how to play hockey, basketball, and track. Someone to pass all my knowledge and experience. I was about to be a father of two.

I was having a boy and a girl. One of each. My heart expanded to include all three of them. I wouldn’t be losing either one of them. Shit. This marriage had to work out. I had a family that I wanted desperately. There was no way I was letting another man play my role. That wasn’t ever going to happen.

We were about to have a boy and a girl. If I weren’t already married to Lisa, I would have driven her to the courthouse right after the doctor’s appointment.

We both sat quietly absorbing our new normal.

The technician took notes on her computer. Then, she took pictures.

“I printed you guys out some pictures. You can clean up now. Congrats on your twins.” She had a huge smile on her face.

Lisa’s face looked like she was going to pass out.

After the nurse left, I watched her quietly. She got off the table and wiped the gel off her stomach.

She raised her eyes to mine. “You fine?”

I knew she was referring to herself. She was not fine. I could see the fear all over her face. The life she had planned for herself was taking a detour.

I looked her in the eyes. “Yes. We’ll just double everything that we were planning on doing.” I added trying to sound helpful because she looked like there was a strong possibility she would faint.

“I’m a doctor, Chris. I’ll probably have to go on bedrest and everything. It is not easy carrying twins. It was already going to be hard going back to work with one baby. Two is going to be two times harder.” She shook her head, standing still for a moment as if she was just trying to absorb her new normal.

Hell, I was scared too, but I couldn’t let her see any crack in my armor. She needed me to be strong.

I went to her and put my arms around her pulling her into my body trying to lend her some of my strength. “We’ll be fine, Lisa. We’ll just hire a nanny to help out.” Lisa was strong. She could do this. If she couldn’t, I was her backbone. She was my rib.

We were going to make marriage look good. We were going to make this work. This was fate. It was the reason that she married me. She just didn’t know it yet.

She gripped the back of my shirt. “I’ve wanted to be a doctor my whole life. What am I going to do? Lord, I’ve screwed up so bad.”

I tried to not let it offend me. I got it. We hadn’t planned on having a baby or two babies, but we were. We’d just have to figure it out.

I lifted her chin up and I traced a thumb along the line of her lips. I bent down and kissed her.

She leaned into me. I loved it when she melted against me. Her tongue met mine, and she sighed. I also loved that sound better than any other sound that she made. “It’s all going to work out. You’ll see.” I kissed her one last time. “I have practice. Why don’t you go home and take a nap?”

I tightened my grip on her body. I promised myself that I would protect my family and keep Lisa happy no matter what.

She nodded her head. I led her back through the waiting area, thankful the other nurse was nowhere in sight.

  Chris

The next few weeks flew by pretty fast. We got into a routine. Lisa would work the night shift, come home make love with me before I went to practice, then fall asleep.

Her stomach had filled out even more. She was absolutely adorable. The twins were moving, and I adored rubbing her stomach while they flipped and danced. It was fascinating to watch the twins move even when Lisa slept.

We were getting closer, but something was holding her back. I wondered if it was her inability to tell her parents that she was pregnant and married.

She talked to her mother constantly, but she had never once mentioned me or the babies. When I asked her about it, she kept telling me that she was going to do it, but that it wasn’t the right time. I wasn’t exactly sure what she thought would constitute the right time. Maybe, she was waiting on the twins to be born.

I was aggravated. Was she ashamed of me or her pregnancy? How long did she think that she could keep this away from her family?

I knew she was going to be pissed at me, but I had to do something. I was her husband, and this situation had gone on long enough.

  I read my text.

Haley: Are you sure you want to do this?

  Me: Yes

Haley: She’s going to be pissed.

  Me: I know.

  Haley: When are we going?

Me: Tomorrow, it that’s good for you?

  Haley: Yes

I was taking the bull by the horn, manning up, or whatever the hell people say when they needed to do shit they didn’t want to do.

The next day I sat in my truck riding with Haley and Peyton to Georgia to see Haley’s parents. I was going to tell them. Part of my responsibility as her husband was to protect her. She hadn’t been sleeping well. I knew she was worried. I wanted to take some of the burden from her.

Haley glanced over at me. “You sure you want to do this without Lisa? I know I’ve asked you before, but it bears asking again.”

I nodded my head. “Lisa loves her parents. I can tell they love her too, but she’s ridiculously afraid of telling them about me and the pregnancy.”

Haley shook her head. “I know. I’ve tried to convince her to get it over with, but she won’t listen to me.”

“Me either. I want to get it out in the open. Lisa could use her parents support. I know she has you, but she needs her mother too. I don’t want her to wait too many more months before she tells them.” I cared about Lisa, and I cared about what we were building together. I didn’t want to hide it from her parents. I wanted them to know me and trust that I was there for their daughter. As a man, I would be pissed at any man that allowed my daughter to hide him. I would question his manhood. We had enough things against us. Her family would not be another thing.

I decided to be honest with Haley. “I’m not sure if Lisa can enjoy this pregnancy without her parents.”

Haley looked over at me and squeezed my hand. “I’m here for you.”

When we pulled up in front of Lisa’s parents house, I took a deep breath. I truly believed what I was doing was the right thing to do, but it didn’t stop me from being nervous. Telling someone’s parents that you had knocked their daughter up and married her without their knowing was not going to be fun, but it needed to be done.

I helped Haley out of the car and picked up Peyton in her car seat. She was asleep. She was an adorable little girl. She had light tanned skin with blue eyes that she had gotten from Connor. Her sandy brown curly hair was all Haley. It made me wonder who my two children would look like. I was counting the days until I got the chance to see them.

  Looking
at Peyton made my resolve even stronger. Lisa needed her parents. They were going to be the only grandparents that my children would have. My parents didn’t count.

This had to be resolved with or without Lisa’s consent.

Haley walked in front of me as I stood back as she rang the doorbell.

The door opened to a woman that resembled Lisa gazed back at me and Haley. She was as tall as Lisa, but her hair was long. Lisa wore hers short though it had grown more since we had been together in Vegas.

Lisa’s Mother was pretty. I could see Lisa growing old looking just like her mother. If that was the case, Lisa would look forever young.

“Hi, Aunt Ann.” Haley said giving her aunt a hug. She moved back and included me. “This is Chris.” She nodded toward me.

I set Payton’s car seat down and shook her hand. “It’s a pleasure to meet you.”

“Come on in. Let’s get that baby inside,” Ann said moving into the room.

I walked into the house looking at pictures that lined the room. I could see pictures of Lisa hanging on the wall from baby to college graduation. My wife was well accomplished.

Lisa had even been a track star. Our kids were going to be awesome. I couldn’t wait to see who they would one day become.

Every picture I was proud of her.

“Have a seat. Would you like something to drink?” Ann offered.

“I’ll take a water. Thank you.” I would need a water to either clear my throat or something to fiddle with to keep me grounded. This was not going to be an easy conversation. I was married to their daughter without their knowledge. I was sure it wasn’t going to go over very well.

“You good?” Haley whispered when her aunt left the room.

“Yes.” I just wanted to get the whole thing over with.

“Haley, it’s good to see you.” Her uncle said walking into the room and hugging Haley. He was tall. He had to be about the same height as my six feet-three inches frame. He had a bald head with a goatee. Haley resembled both of her parents.

“Hi, Uncle Lee,” Haley said hugging her uncle back. “This is Chris.” She pointed to me when she finished hugging her uncle.
